It is wonderful to be genuinely loved! One of the most amazing things to know is that God loves you. God’s Word tells us in I John 4:10, “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us.”
One of the most amazing things to know is that God loves you.
We learn more about God’s love in Romans 5:8: “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Jesus Christ died for us because of our sin.
It is a humbling reality when we read in the Bible, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
Everyone is guilty of sin. God, who is perfect, says we come short of His glory and perfection. Ecclesiastes 7:20 declares, “For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.”
God showed us His love by allowing His only Son Jesus to take the punishment for our sins.
A person’s sin is no trivial matter. We read in God’s Word, “For the wages of sin is death.” (Romans 6:23) This death is separation from God in a place of eternal punishment. Hear the sobering words of Revelation 20:14: “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”
So, we find ourselves guilty of sin and deserving eternal punishment in a place the Bible calls Hell. It is against this backdrop that we see just how much God loves us! God showed us His love by allowing His only Son Jesus to take the punishment for our sins so that we could live with Him in heaven someday! Second Corinthians 5:21 explains, “For he [God] hath made him [Jesus] to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
To know that God loves us is wonderful; however, God wants us to make a decision. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) Each person must now decide if he will believe God’s Word. Many will trust in living a better life, being a good person, or doing good deeds to get them to heaven. Emphatically God’s Word says, “Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith [believing] without the deeds of the law.” (Romans 3:28) Our only way to heaven is by believing in Jesus Christ.
Our only way to heaven is by believing in Jesus Christ.
God tells us in His Word, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13) Do you agree with what God says in His Word about your sin, the punishment you deserve, and Jesus’ death for your sins? If you do, then call upon Him now to save you. Calling upon Him is simply acknowledging to God that you believe what He says and therefore are trusting Him to save you from the punishment of your sins and to take you to heaven when you die.
